Philosophy:

Being a midwife is both my career and my calling. It is the intersection of my natural ability to support people through their light and dark moments, my mission to make healing and well-being accessible to all people, and my love for the analog ways and ancient traditions. I am honored to be doing this work.

Through my experiences supporting hundreds of births in a variety of spaces, I know that birth is more than just a medical event. It is a major life event, and a spiritual event as well, and midwives hold a profound responsibility for the medical, emotional and spiritual components. When properly supported, birth can be miraculous, union enhancing, and confidence building. I have also witnessed how being compassionately cared for in one’s more vulnerable moments can heal wounds long neglected. This is my intention. Working together with my clients, we co-create a birth environment of respect, safety, intimacy, true informed consent, individualized care, and collaboration so that they can achieve their utmost well-being. Part of my work is to help shift the greater culture to expect and demand this depth of care so we can thrive as a community.

With social justice at the root of my work, I priorituze cultural sensitivity and inclusivity, respect and space for religion and ritual, appropriate care for queer families, and access to midwifery services regardless of economic status.

In all that I do, I try to show up with the utmost love and compassion.

Midwifery Training:

I became a midwife after 4 years of full-time, full spectrum doula work. I first studied with Juli Tilsner of Cornerstone Doula Trainings, an experienced homebirth midwife whose intuitive style has shaped the way I show up at births. I continued my training at Maternidad La Luz, a high volume birth center in El Paso, Texas, serving families from Juarez, MX and the state of Chihuahua. It was through rigorous training there that I honed my medical and emergency skills. I then obtained my National Certification (CPM) and California License, moved back to Oakland, and have been serving families all around the Bay area, and occasionally in Southern California and Mexico.
